Baseball: Past and Present

Hello everyone,

As some of you may know, I do an annual project having people rank the 50 best baseball players not in the Hall of Fame. It’s that time again.

I invite anyone who’s interested to take part (please free also to pass ballots along to anyone interested.) To vote, click on this link which will take you a Google Form that’s accepting responses. I’ve also included a reference ballot with about 430 names.

I don’t have too many rules for this project, but here they are:

1. You must vote for 50 players. Next to each player you vote for, include a Y or N for if they belong in the Hall of Fame
2. Any player who’s been inactive at least five years is eligible, whether they’ve played in the majors or not
3. All votes are due by next Sunday December 9 at 9 p.m. PST. I’ll post the results on December 16
Beyond this, please feel free to email me at thewomack@gmail.com with any questions.
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how you all vote!
Best wishes,
Graham Womack

Graham! Glad to see you back and writing! It’s been too long.

Also, glad to see the project’s back up and running. Submitted my ballot already, and hope I didn’t make any mistakes. Can’t wait to see the results in year three!

Another great crowdsourcing project. I hope you get a lot of participation. So many great choices and not enough room on the ballot. I can’t wait to see the results.

Glad to see you back on track with Baseball Past & Present, Graham!

Submitted my ballot the other day, though I wish I took more time to contemplate the non-obvious candidates.

    Graham,
Glad to see it’s time for this again… I’m hoping to manage to get a ballot done this year!

Graham, where are the results? I need my HoF discussion fix….

Results are coming on January 2, exactly one week before the BBWAA voting results for Cooperstown are announced. This year is going to be epic!

There is probably nothing more controversial than who gets in and who does not. The debate always revolves around those at the margins.
